A branch of the Nassau dynasty, originating from Germany, but now the reigning house of the Netherlands. Its founder, William of Orange established the dynasty when the Netherlands fought for its independence from the Habsburg Empire. However, it would take until the 19th century for the dynasty, to establish itself as a Royal monarchy. Throughout the centuries, it made sure to connect itself to other dynasties.
