Jelgavas pils

The city of Jelgava hosts the Baltic's largest Baroque-style palace. It overlooks the Lielupe and Driksa rivers. The palace was commissioned by Ernst Johann von Biron and the architects were Bartolomeo Rastrelli and Severin Jensen. In world war II, the palace was damaged heavily. Afterward, several renovation projects took place. Today, the palace houses University faculties, but you can still visit the crypt of the Dukes of Courland.
