Taman Sari - Water Castle

The water castle was ordered by sultan Hamengkubuwono I. It served several purposes such as a place of defense and hiding, but also a place for relaxation. The Sultan and his family would stay at the castle while enjoying entertainment. The castle was originally surrounded by a lake. Members of the Today, visitors will find the water castle in an urban area of Yogjakarta, south of the Kraton palace.
