Festung Kufstein

The fortress welcomes, if not warns, every visitor who enters the valley. It is situated as a guard on the border of Austria and Germany and this pinpoints its importance in history. As it has been the subject of battle between Tyrol and Bavaria several times. 
During the era of the Austrian-Hungarian empire, Hungarian dissidents were detained here. 

Today, all visitors are welcome; individual visitors, school groups and also guests of events. 
The fortress organizes its own events but offers rooms for special events as well.
