Château de Chinon

Castle, fortress; the Chateau goes by different names. The walls and towers still provide a defensive image that can be experienced by its visitors. It played an important role in French history. Templars were imprisoned in the castle, whereas Jeanne d'Arc was welcomed in the castle as well. The castle has had many famous residents. Throughout history, the castle fell into decline. Nevertheless, visitors might still be impressed by its strategic location, its defensive character while overlooking Chinon and the river Vienne.
