The palace is associated with Pargalı Ibrahim Pasha, who married Sultan Süleiman's sister, Hatice Sultan. It overlooks Sultanahmet Square. The palace accommodates the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum. It is close to the Sultan Ahmet mosque and the famous Hagia Sophia Mosque.
