Schloss Augustenau

Schloss Augustenau is situated in Herleshausen. The town of Herleshausen finds itself right on the border of Thüringen and Hessen. During the Cold War, the town took center stage in several prisoner exchanges. 
 

The family of Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld still owns the castle. They are related to families such as the house of Hessen, Prussia, and Orange-Nassau.

One can rent a holiday apartment within the castle, and the castle is also available for wedding events.
