The House of Bentheim-Steinfurt had different branches and has its origins in Westfalen. The House is connected to other noble families such as the House of Württemberg, the House of Windsor and the House of Orange-Nassau.
The castle is perched on a hill, overlooking the town of Bad Bentheim. Tourists can enter a part of the castle, learning about its history. The castle is also still a residence of the counts and princes of Bentheim.
The castle's history is well-connected to the Princes of Bentheim-Steinfurt. The family still owns the castle. Visiting the castle is therefore not possible.
