The House of Bernadotte originates from France; Jean-Baptiste Jules Bernadotte made a career er under Napoleon. When the reign of the House of Vasa ended, the throne was offered to him. Ever since, Sweden's royal family is the House of Bernadotte. The current king, H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf is related to the Royal Houses of Denmark and the United Kingdom. He is also related to the House of Hohenzollern, Baden and Waldeck-Pyrmont.
