The House of Romanov was founded in 1613. The dynasty influenced Europe's history throughout the centuries. The House of Romanov is related to other Royal Houses such as the House of the United Kingdom, the House of Hohenzollern and the Royal House of Denmark. Examples of illustrious members are Tsar Peter the Great and Tsarina Catherine the Great. The monarchy was abolished in 1917.
